Invite to Community Conversations

City Council adopted on December 5, 2017 the Toronto Action Plan to Confront Anti-Black Racism. The Toronto Action Plan is an accumulation of two years of research, a collaborative effort with 11 community agencies, and engagement from approximately 800 members of Toronto’s diverse Black communities in 41 community conversations organized in 2017. Opportunities at the City

The AnchorTO initiative has developed a shared framework–the AnchorTO Blueprint—to guide public sector institutions on how to implement a social procurement initiative/strategy within their institutions. It is the culmination of numerous learning sessions, working group sessions, and feedback. At the moment, it currently exists as a series of powerpoint presentations, speaking notes, and some rough raw draft content. AnchorTO is looking for a content writer to develop clear, accessible copy to use in a publicly accessible toolkit and website.

The successful copy writer will be responsible for adapting the existing source material into a 6-module guide, no longer than 20-25 pages in length total. The writer would be responsible for text only. Design and graphics are not required.

Interested parties should contact Wayne Chu (wayne.chu@toronto.ca) with:

·         a description of relevant qualifications or experience with similar projects

·         description of previous experience or knowledge of social procurement, social value purchasing, supply chain diversity, workforce development and/or community benefits

·         up to 3 samples of previous writing

Respondents may be invited for a further interview to clarify qualifications or to provide references. Selected respondents will be invited to bid on the project in a second stage.

Deadline to apply by is Wednesday, June 13th by 11:59pm
