Description
Since 2004, the red carpet awards gala has honoured achievers and brought together people of African background and others of goodwill, to celebrate inspiring success stories. Headliners and Keynote speakers have included, Dr. Bernice King, CEO of the King Centre and daughter of Civil Rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Junior; legendary South African singer, Yvonne Chaka Chaka; and Dr. Julius Garvey, son of Marcus Garvey.
The awards are presented by Afroglobal Television, a 24-hour global channel and the esteemed Planet Africa organization, which includes a magazine and a television show now broadcast in Canada, Europe and Africa, on networks that include OMNI across Canada and BEN Television across Europe. Its vision is to advance the aspirations of people of African origin, wherever they were born or raised on this planet, and to celebrate their accomplishments with all people of goodwill worldwide.
