  • 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women – 2024. It is the publication’s fifth edition with the same title, published in 2016.
  • The fifth edition is yet another informative and educational publication. Its purpose is two-fold:
    1. To continue to highlight, document and make visible the accomplishments of Black Canadian women and girls.
    2. Support Black Canadian women’s social, educational, political and professional advancement.
  • The door was left open on the previous projects, which grew out of discussions over several months in 2015. This resulted in a publication that was launched in 2016 and filled a well-needed void. The public’s resounding interest propelled the writers to facilitate a fifth edition, which will be launched on September 28, 2024.
  • As in the first through fourth editions, this project continues to spotlight the accomplishments of Black Canadian women from different walks of life and regions across Canada. In addition, we will continue to build an ever-expanding database of these accomplished women on our website, www.100abcwomen.ca, for future endeavours and generations. This database will also be available to public and private libraries.
  • The Black Canadian women recognized in this book include (but are not limited to) women who are firsts and/or highly accomplished in government, not-for-profit, financial, legal, real estate, health, entertainment, trades, fine arts and other professions.
  • A call for nominees, together with a nomination process, was launched. Individuals were able to nominate other women as well as self-nominate by submitting their nominations electronically. The 2026 Nomination form is now available on our website: < target=”_blank” href=”https://www.100abcwomen.ca/nomination-form-2026/”>https://www.100abcwomen.ca/nomination-form-2026/

    • Support-related activities with organizations and groups working for the advancement of Black women and girls
    • Demonstrated leadership through role modelling and/or volunteer activities.
    • Three major achievements or accomplishments over the past 10 years.
  • Five key questions had to be answered:
